A behind-the-scenes glimpse into the stories behind the pictures with Bespoken Photography — with some tips and ideas along the way!
Just as it was finally turning green, McKinsey and Jay said “I do” at Lower Ranch at Spruce Mountain for their Colorado wedding. They were surrounded by beautiful views during their ceremony up on Mountainside and celebrated after in Albert’s Lodge. It was the perfect weather that evening to dance the night away under the open sky in the Courtyard!
After recently photographing a winter wedding here, it was so fun to see the trees and hillsides come alive in a different season! This Colorado wedding venue transitioned so beautifully from cozy winter lodge to summer cabin vibes. It was truly magical in each season!
What I most remember from this wedding day is how happy the bride was as she was getting ready, the feeling of joy and peace from the couple, and everyone dancing under the stars.

The couple did a First Look at the dock next to Ogdn Pond, choosing to share private vows as well.

We were perched on the hillside of Spruce Mountain overlooking the ranch (including the cows, of course) for their beautiful ceremony. I especially loved how they included their parents in the ceremony!

Next, it’s time to celebrate with cocktail hour at the Colorado Room and the reception held in Albert’s Lodge.

We then ventured back up the hillside for sunset photos and had to get at least one with the cows!!

Now, on to the Courtyard! I think this might be my favorite arrangement for special dances! You in the middle surrounded by all your favorite people. The couple also did a “Last Dance” with everyone circled up (another favorite) and a private last dance inside while everyone lined up for their bubble exit!

What a joy it was to get to capture this couple and this day! I will say this again and again – the people make the wedding. No matter the venue you choose or the vendors you pick (although important), what matters most is the person you are marrying and the people there to support you.
I cannot recommend Spruce Mountain Ranch enough for all the Colorado mountain ranch wedding feels. If you’re looking for a local Colorado wedding photographer to join you there, l would love to hear from you!
