We are back at Garden of the Gods – this time for a proposal! When Brady reached out looking for a Colorado Springs photographer for his proposal, his intentionality and thoughtfulness immediately stood out. He and his girlfriend were staying at Garden of the Gods Resort in Colorado Springs for the weekend and he wanted to propose during their stay! There are so many different ways to plan a proposal. If you’re planning to pop the question, here are a few things to think about:
- Location & Privacy
- This is where having a local Colorado Springs Photographer can really come in handy! Certain locations (especially in the Garden) are pretty busy and consistently have people taking photos or being tourists. If you prefer to propose without many people watching (or even somewhere in the mountains with almost none), we can plan a location that gives you that! Choosing a beautiful Colorado Springs location that is meaningful to you can also add to the already-special moment.
- The Surprise
- You know your partner best! Do you or they want a complete surprise? How much will they suspect with the plan you have? This will impact how you coordinate with your proposal photographer. You can have your photographer pose as a tourist or even hide at a pre-planned spot!
- The Plan
- Unless you are in the “total, complete surprise” camp, it can be wise to plan a special event you are on the way to so your partner comes dressed and photo ready! Dinner plans? Check. Tickets for a show? Perfect. They may appreciate the photos a little bit more if they are not coming straight from the gym or a hike. But again, you know your partner best!

In the case of this proposal, Brady told his girlfriend they were doing a couples photo session under the guise of a birthday celebration! We then planned out a secret “passcode” to prompt him to get down on one knee! The moment could not have been more perfect. We had been keeping a close eye on the weather that day and had umbrellas prepared in case we needed them. Instead, the sun came out and as you can see, this couple was literally glowing! If only we could plan for this weather at sunset every time!
